S23+ - Cannot download photos to my computer

I bought a new S23+ from AT&T back in March.  Over the last few months, I have tried to download my pictures from the phone onto my computer.  I have never had an issue with my previous models. I've tried different cables. I've tried different ideas that I've gotten online and I just cannot make this work.  Sometimes the cable recognizes my phone and others it does not.  But when I get it to recognize the phone, I still cannot get it to download the pics.  It tells me there is nothing on there.  Sometimes it just keeps searching, etc.  Please help!

Check your USB connection set to charge or file share

When connected via cable and you get get a prompt asking what do with device connected just click do nothing. Then

When the phone is recognised by PC, and you open File Explorer on pc, do you see your phone listed as one of the entries on left ? If you do click on it and you should see folders listed
