S23 battery swolen after update

I recently updated my 2 year 2 month old s23 ultra to the newest UI 7.0 and immediately suffered battery issues. I cleared the cache and limited performance to try to remedy the issue but battery life still struggled to last 6hours total and the phone would heat up significantly. In the last week the battery has swollen, pushing the case open so you can see inside the phone (previously perfectly fine prior to update). 

Prior to the update the battery would last a day and the phone wasn't bulging. It appears there is a direct correlation between the update and my battery failing.

To be honest, this is unrelated to the UI7 update.... timing is immaculate but also, makes ZERO sense for it to be related

Immediately stop using your device as it risks leaking, exploding, or causing a fire.

Contact Samsung support for a repair or to discontinue use of the device immediately.

I've stopped using the device. Just thought the timing was very coincidental with the issue appearing immediately after updating (heat when in use, battery degradation, and ultimately battery failure).

Eh- for a battery to expand from heat the phone woudve given a warning way before that happened- and even shut its self down.

Agreed, and no such warning was given, which is why it's a weird and sudden issue. I'll see if it can be repaired 👍

Hi Danny, I've had the battery replaced with a genuine Samsung battery today, so I'll see if it happens again and raise a private message if so 👍

I am experiencing a similar problem. Following the UI7 update, the phone's battery performance has significantly deteriorated and become erratic. Prior to the update, the phone functioned normally. Upon inspection, I have observed battery bulging and the back panel separating from the device.

Exactly the same as me then. I had the battery replaced at a local phone shop and then had another sowftware update that evening. Since the second update and battery replacement, the phone has returned to normal (I'm unable to tell if it was the battery or the UI7 update that fixed the issue as both were changed/updated on the same day)

it has to be the update. Same thing happened to my phone. First, it stared doing the network, heating up, I then upgraded the update and the battery was swollen the following day with slow charging and overheating. I need to find a local authorized dealer in LA CA. Samsung shod be looking into this problem and compensate owners.
