"Extend Unlock" not working with "Trusted Places" (i.e., Home)

On my Samsung S23 Ultra (through Verizon), the "Extend Unlock" feature is not working with "Trusted Places" (set to my home address selected using Google Maps) while I am home. Even with that set in "Trusted Places" (and being there!), I'm having to enter my phone's 4-digit PIN *each* time I turn on my phone -- even if it's a minute after it was on the previous time. (I also have a "Trusted Device" specified (my laptop which is almost always running), but my phone doesn't appear to recognize that either as I still have to input my phone's 4-digit PIN each time I turn it on.) This is very frustrating!

Samsung turns on Use Wifi for more accurate location information by default. Sometimes it thinks that I am in North Carolina when I live in Alabama. I turned that off and only use GPS for location and it seems to be much much better at Extend working correctly at home now.

Interesting, but in reality, and any and all rhetoric they say, it's supposed to work. Period. Not on a Tuesday with a full moon.

It's like turning on your phone and hoping the screen lights up. "You have to shake your phone 15 times, invert it and give it a kiss to hopefully make it work", or the best "We're working on a fix" which won't be coming anytime soon suckas.

BUT, you want to buy something? THAT works flawlessly. SURPRISE.

Figured I'd jump in an mention this has been broken for me for a long time. It's 100% Samsung related.

None of the Samsung devices (S23 U, S24 U, Flip3, S21FE, Tab S8 U will stay unlocked no matter what.

Samsung needs to step up and fix basic and Vanilla Android functionality that they obviously broke somewhere.

Well imagine that!! What a surprise, yet another unhappy customer.

Agreed, either fix it and make it functional or remove it all together Samsung. And stop trying to blame it on the moon or COVID.

Same problem here. S22 Ultra. Absolutely and utterly sick and tired of it. Will be thinking very carefully about my next phone purchase. Have complained to Google and Samsung multiple times. Have a running ticket going with Samsung support that's been going on for almost a year. Can only imagine it must be a hardware issue if they can't fix it with updates - or not enough people are affected to make it worth their while. Either way, completely unacceptable. And incredibly frustrating. Shame on Samsung.

Yes, I feel and share your frustration.

I even turned off facial recognition as it never recognized me or it was too slow and I just ended up accessing it manually. My Microsoft Surface Pro 5 which is a lot older has NO problem recognizing me.

Common denominator? SAMSUNG/GOOGLE One or both are the culprits. It's like the original PnP which was more or less, plug and pray.

So turned off the "wifi scanning"  in location services, and my location unlock started working immediately. This may be the issue. I'll see how it goes today.

Slightly related: I'm not sure if I'm the only one but coming from a pixel device it drives me absolutely crazy, if extended unlock works for once, that I have to swipe to unlock rather than placing my finger on the reader. On the pixel device I just tap on the fingerprint reader and without checking it, since the phone is unlocked, I access the phone. On the S24 I have to check, is it unlocked or not, to determine my action: swipe or fingerprint.

Unrelated and it's a setting. Go to Lock screen and uncheck stay on lock screen under Fingerprint and Face Recognition

Really? On my S24 there's a line at the top of the lock screen indicating that's the phone is unlocked by Extended Lock, WHEN IT WORKS.
