OneUI 6: Where has Finder app gone?

I've just updated my Galaxy S23 Ultra to OneUI 6 but the incredibly useful Samsung Finder app has disappeared.

On older versions of the UI, it provided a deep search of the phone to find folders, contacts, apps etc and you could create a shortcut to it from the homescreen.

It seems it's now been replaced by the search bar in the apps drawer, which is nowhere near as good.

Anyone know if it's still there, hidden away?  Or a decent link to sideload it onto my phone?

I use Nova Launcher and I've just worked out you can use it to create a Finder shortcut in much the same way discovered by @Ohadn

With Nova running, long press screen and select Nova Launcher in list of widgets.

Choose Activity Shortcut

Scroll down list of apps to One UI Home and tap arrow on left

Scroll down to One UI Home (search.searchactivity)

Tap it....and the Nova shortcut on the homescreen opens Finder.

But....we still need Samsung to reinstate the shortcut!

The finder was a must have app for me. So much so, I joined the community to express my frustration.

The finder app allowed you to touch once, and then immediately type to find what you are looking for. It also showed most recent searches.

Versus having to swipe down, then click on the search bar, then type.  Huge difference in convenience.

I could not agree more!! Bring this functionality, or app back. Or have the keyboard pop up when you swipe to search so I can immediately type.

The Finder app is a NEED for me. Used it regularly.

I do have a quick fix tho. By using Routines+ to create a macro where it records my keypresses. Hence I record 'slide up' from homescreen to access apps, then 'click' on the top search bar to open up the keyboard. Once done and saved, I add that macro as a widget on my homescreen. Works for me, but I still want the official finder app back!

Awesome!

It's working just like it did before the ui 6 upgrade.

You made my day.

Thank you!

I used the Finder app icon daily. It was so useful and fast to just click the icon and the keyboard open to search for an app or contact.. this is a step backwards. I think more people would have used it if they knew about it.. but most people don't look in the settings for things and damsung didn't really promote it but they should have!

Thanks @Ohadn for the brilliant idea !

I also have another way to achieve this. If you install the app "On Hand Operation  +" part of Goodlock from Galaxy Store. You can map a diagonal swap to open the Finder app for you.
