This is super frustrating and actually impacts my life in a negative way.
I have always used Google Translate for Selected Text Translation, but since the UI upgrade to 6.1, Samsung Translate suddenly took over.
I would very much like to have the option to use Google Translate again, because:
1. Samsung Translate just really isn't that good.
2. Samsung Translate doesn't give me the option to take Selected Text Translation into the main Google Translate app when I want/need to.
3. Samsung Translate doesn't support one of the languages I need!
Samsung Translate is, unfortunately, a half baked product at the moment and I am in no mood to be forced to beta test it until it might become usable and good sometime in the future, especially as long as it doesn't support all languages.
If anyone has a fix for that I would be very thankful...
...and by fix I mean how to disable Samsung Translate completely and be able to use only Google Translate again.
Please and and thank you.
Edit: I apologise for my tone, but I am beyond frustrated about this forced downgrade in quality and cannot understand why the right to choose which app to use has been taken away from all Samsung users.

I have an S24Plus and it’s the same stupid samsung translate app when i highlight a text.
I have a company with 5 Samsung and all the employees complain about that.
Makes me think to sell all of them and buy other phones...

I was forced to update a couple of days ago since the update notification would force sound even though i disabled it.
I have disabled Samsung's translation and checked through every setting that would allow me to revert it back to it's original state to no avail.
After the update Samsung's translate has completely overriden google translates select to translate feature.
I use it a lot for reading Kanji i do not know how to read, and it helped my learning tremendously.
Unfortunately, Samsung translate does not transliterate any Japanese text.
I wouldn't even say that it's a worthwhile replacement. Nowhere near to being as good as Google's, as it can also read out the text for you.
Since the update it's become extremely inconvenient, and for some apps i need to tab out and go into Google translate manually now because of this thoughtlessness.
My favourite part is guessing which "Translate" button belongs to Samsung and which one belongs to Google since they're not labelled and aren't consistent with the placement.
Sometimes even disappearing as a whole so that I actually need to re-enable and enable Google's version manually to get it to work again!
If they were going to force their software upon us you'd think they would polish it and make it actually enjoyable to use.
embarrassing.

Samsung needs to reconsider its position and allow users to choose which translation platform they want to use. Abuse of a dominant position is illegal (Antitrust law)

Thanks for the details, especially since I rely on translate for Japanese quite a bit as well. Best half solution I could do in the Amazon app particularly, was to highlight the text, go to the 3 dots in the pop up menu, Manage Apps, Toggle Google Translate on, and now have two Translate options at least when highlighting text (in the Amazon app). I tried all the other suggestions I saw here and elsewhere on the web. Separately, the change to the Menu bar gestures with the update really ruin my multitasking workflows - seem more like iOS now 😅

I agree, this change was terrible. Shame on Samsung for rolling out such a useless feature just to force people to use their AI *****.

Samsung sinks to the level of Apple. Sad, but luckily there are other brands out there that are real Android phones and not Appledroids like Samsung.

I'm also considering to move on pixel because this type of behavior from Samsung. For me in context menu "translate" link is very important feature, now google translate link is present only in chrome but it's duplicated and you don't know which one is the right one because both have the same label and switch the position every time. Since 6.1 update I started to hate this phone, it completely ruined it for me and this is the main reason I decided to not buy the s24 ultra this year and stick with my s23 ultra. That's not what you expect from a 1.5k€ product.
