I think you are confused, that's the extra RAM you can assign to your 12GB RAM, which would make it 20GB overall if that makes sense. Look under device care to see your actual RAM.

Your phone has 12gb of built in Ram which some of it is reserved for the phone's System to access.

You can use Ram Plus to use some of the internal storage from your phone as more Ram.

The phone would only use this Ram Plus amount if your built in Ram was starting to run low.
