Hi,

I have reset my S23 Ultra and upon restarting the phone there is a prompt for a password to unlock it.

I have since learnt that this is a google security feature and i hadn't removed my google account before the reset.

Trouble is it's prompting for a numerical code that don't ever remember setting up. It wont let me do anything else other than take me to this numerical unlock screen. What can i do?

That is the unlock screen, it has nothing to do with Google. It's whatever PIN you set up to unlock the screen.

If you don't know it, you'll need to plug phone to PC/Laptop and boot it into recovery mode to factory reset then set phone up again.

When you do this, if you're logged into your Google Account you'll need to confirm the email and password for that to set phone up again.

I believe Google backs up device settings so if you've backed up to Google and restored the back up via set up process prompt then that's why you have the lock screenpin.

To get into recovery mode

Plug phone to PC/Laptop
Press and hold volume down + power
Once phone turns off immediately press and hold volume up and power

If boots into recovery

Press volume down to highlight factory reset and press power button once

Use volume down to highlight option to confirm the reset and Press power button once

If successful it'll ask you to reboot system not. Press power button once to confirm and wait for phone to go to welcome screen and set up again.

If it does prompt to restore data from Google then skip it so don't get the pin lock back on

Hello. I will try to help you the best I can. As far as I know if it is a 2 digit code, then you would need to login into your gmail account on a seperate device and validate the codes generated on your S23 ultra or vice versa. But if it is 8 digit code or something similar, please have a look at this link. https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6046815?hl=en .

If this does not work, please attach some screenshots for your next reply and I am happy to assist you as much as I can.

Hi,

I tried obtaining the google codes using the method you mentioned but that did not work. I've attached a picture of the lock screen, i literally can't go to any other screen. I have put all the codes in i thought it could be but the time between when i can re-enter the passwords doubles each time.

It won't let me restart or turn off the phone. If it prompted my google password i could unlock it but there is no option for that.

Thanks for you help. One of my kids had skipped the google login bit after a reset and i was stuck on this lock screen. I had managed to get it to the recovery mode and reset from there. All good now.

It has my mom's phone number which IDK why. My daughter did it all and she doesn't remember what, who, when or anything.
