Hi community, a lot of people seem to not know that our devices didn't get a crucial qol update, Super HDR is apparently absent from our devices in oneui6.1, it's a shame especially when iPhone users got it as an update after the S24 launch in a lot of previous Gen devices, it's a feature that is the way forward, pixels got it too, we have the hardware to support it, and the algorithms should be hardware agnostic(HDR display excluded).
As a hobbyist photographer I am really bummed, but even for casual everyday users it's a great update as their photography experience in all these devices will automatically be upgraded, it's 2024, we must be able to preview photos is HDR.
Come on samsung...
I hope this will get fixed.
am happy we got the ai ones but for me and a lot of people this one is probably more useful eve
Solved! Go to Solution.

Don't reply to the guy above, read the thread, he is out of touch, don't waste your time like I did.
Indeed it's a shame that Samsung treats us like this, when they have the solution.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've made stupid mistake by thinking samsung could have changed... Because somewhere samsung said they're working with Google and especially meta to deliver those. You would never suggest that such massive company which is trying to change and accumulate more users would be actually so cheap, especially since this is native android feature. This is my first samsung since the Note 3. I'd probably won't go back ever again. Back then samsung on purpose refused to add TRIM support into S3, Note2 and Note3. Which made those devices barely usable after 6 months. I was compiling custom kernels and backporting the trim module into the kernel and had to execute it manually from time to time to make the device usable.
I guess nothing changes with samsung...
This also makes me believe samsung is still not putting metal plate behind the drum and its holder on their washing machines and they still use steel and aluminium with direct contact, which leads to oxidation and corrosion on the aluminium part. They've been doing that on purpose, for years.

That Joeey guy would probably say that TRIM is snake oil and a niche feature for as much I can tell.😂

Well, most companies tend to deliver when they say that they're working on something. Anyway, we can probably all live without it, sure. However, it leaves really bad taste in the mouth after spending on flagship and suddenly the low end devices(or 4 year old ones) get features which you don't.
This would lead to unsatisfied users, no brand loyalty and of course more leaving users. 🙂
Samsung is also probably the only major manufacturer on the market that doesn't support Dolby Vision, which is bad enough on its own. This includes their TV's not just their phones. HDR videos from iPhones or other devices like xiaomi are displayed correctly everywhere else except on samsungs... 😆 Even the cheap POKO phones are expected to get Ultra HDR support with the android 14 update. It's insane. 😂

Can you prove that s23 dont support sdr dimming then? screens are mostly identical (and probably superior even) to the ones in iphone 12+

Bumping this, Nothing updated their Nothing(2) to support ultra xdr(Ultra HDR/Super HDR).
Apparently a small company like nothing has the developers to update their devices while an almost trillion company can't.
This sounds like a joke but it isn't.
It's certainly my last Samsung.

Well, I bought a relativelly cheap xiaomi tab 6 recently and guess what - there is a working sdr dimming on the IPS screen, so there are no excuses. (Tested in latest chrome on related github page with examples. There is a highly noticeable change in screen brightness and dimming applied)
There are no excuses now, they could implement it, they just don't want to

Bumping once more, apparently a dev ported Super HDR viewing in Samsung M31(!!!!).

I won't even say a thing this time, I'll just post the information and it's up to you if you want to use the information when buying future Samsung "FLAGSHIPS" as how Samsung wants their updates and support to be for these devices.
