Hi all,

My Google Play Systems updates are stuck on September since I updated to OneUI 6... Tried deleting the cache of Google play services - but that didn't help....

Anyone else having this problem?

Hello @pagagagamate  and best wishes for a good start to 2024.

I agree with you it's very strange and makes me think that, as usual, they don't want to admit they have a problem.

Maybe you can help me understand how strange my setup is.

My S23U was purchased in IT and should have an EU rom.

This is the list of ids shown after checking for a new system update.
S918BXXS3BWKC / S918BOXM3BWJM / S918BXXU3BWJM

I'm not an expert but the following emerges from my conclusions:

The first of the 3 id (S918BXXS3BWKC) refers to the ROM built EU, patch December 2023. Info taken from samfrew.

The second id (S918BOXM3BWJM) it should be the CSC however the search returns the same id for different CSCs used in another ROMs. How is it possible?

The third id (S918BXXU3BWJM) should identify the PDA module, however I found this id associated with the EU ROM with the October 2023 security patch and other ROMs from other countries. This ROM which I presume is a beta shows the same CSC mentioned in the previous point. Unfortunately the source page does not show the build id.

Now I understand why the Google Play security updates aka Google Play Services on my device are blocked in July 2023. All the workarounds available online did not change the condition and I was forced to reset the device.

Does this sound like a standard setup to you?

This is above my pay grade I'm afraid 😕 But nice work with the research! Also read somewhere that wiping the cache partition helps - but it definitely didn't in my case

I'm stuck on July update. It seems to prevent adding my work account to my phone.

+1 to having the same "problem". I noticed there were no more GP updates after OneUI 6.0, but didn't put much thought into it. Today, I researched out of curiosity.

Today I could install a ~65Mb update, bringing it up to Nov 2023 🙂

Me too, however Google released the January 2024 build. Samsung needs to make up for lost time otherwise if they want to stay consistent with their product update policy, which is why I chose the S23U.

Have you noticed if the build reported by the device is up to date? Mine is the same as before this update. This is not logical.

At least we're now on November... I think they skipped December... So if everything goes well we'll be on January soon and back to normal schedules... Strange bug overall - but glad that I didn't factory reset

You like to see the glass half full. I think that after spending a lot of money to be able to buy Samsung's top of the range it is legitimate to expect what you paid. Don't forget that the updates in question also impact the security of the device which for many has become the hub of sensitive activities and transactions. As an example for all cases. What happens if you make banking transactions with your smartphone and something goes wrong? Who do you think loses? The risk is real even with all the patches applied but increases considerably if you are without them.

In principle I agree with you - but the android updates should probably cover this, no? And we kept getting those regularly... Good luck getting those so frequently with other android brands
