Hi, I have noticed with the newer phones, iPhone or Samsung, that when you zoom in with the camera after a certain range it kind of blurs? I don't know the correct term for it but I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about. Like when you zoom in it reduces the quality but in a weird way like it makes everything look smooth but not HD. Is there anyway I could correct this. It wasn't like this on the older Samsung phones.

pretty sure newer range models use AI in their cameras to make the images look better, and yes I do understand what you mean as I like to take pictures quite a lot, it's quite frustrating because as far as I am aware you can't disable it.

It's because after the optical zoom (i.e the lens, so for example on S21/22/23 ultra, there is a 10x zoom lens) it's a digital zoom so will continually lose quality.

Once digital zoom is used and the photo is taken, phones will apply automatic editing in an attempt to clean up the image.

Hi @arman5432

I usually take the photo using the best picture taking option which is in my case 200mp and then zoom in on that photo.

When zooming in directly there will be a degradation in quality.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

You can use pro mode, this is where I believe the AI stops

It depends on where you zoom for example with the ultra 1x 3x & 10x zoom is lossless but anything above 10x zoom or between 3x & 10x will be subject to lower a low quality image hope that makes sense. As for iPhone if its one of the pro maxes they only do 3x optical so anything over 3x will again be subject to quality lose. I personally find the 3x and 10x zoom just right on the ultra

I feel this and infact if you take the photo and then immediately click on the preview, it is semi decent for like a second, this is with scene optimiser off and can't find any other setting for this. Quite frustrating, renders the zoom feature pretty useless.

for author and commenter: pretty sure pro mode/expert raw removes AI
