Blocking incoming calls by prefix pattern

I keep getting annoying spam calls from certain numbers which are same in the first 6 digits, but changes last 4 digits and keep calling. I am fed up blocking each number. They call in the early morning at 5am when I am sleeping. Blocking numbers by prefix pattern is a trivial thing supported by all mobile phones. Its a shame I'm not finding this option on my premium Samsung S23 ultra. Is there any such option to block number pattern by prefix?

I had a similar issue years ago and believe I used asterisks to replace numbers after the prefix, much like the wildcards in MS DOS.

Would that still work?

Thanks Dave. I had tried that, but only put a single asterix after first six digits and it worked in my previous phones. Didn't work here. I'll try putting four asterix and see if that works. I'll let you know if it did. Thanks

There is a spam filter in the phone app, go to the phone app tap the three dots in the top right, then tap settings then tap caller ID and spam protection and turn this on.
Hope this helps. 😊

Thanks Somebody3 for your tip. Yes, I've seen the spam protection option and it is turned on. It actually marks the call as spam, but doesn't blocks the call. The problem is though the call is identified as spam, the phone still rings, and that is my problem. It's unpleasant to say the least when such annoying calls wakes me up in the wee hours.

I have an idea that could possibly work.  You could create a Routine for a specific incoming caller, in this case, Spam.  You'll have to create a new contact labeled Spam and then hope that the Routine would accept all Spam calls.  That's the step I don't know that will work.

To get started, create a new Routine ... If /  Call / Incoming call / From specific callers ... choose Spam

The Then portion is a little more tricky as I can't find a Hang up or terminate call.  You could though assign Mute all sounds.

I'm hoping my previous suggestion of assigning asterisks  as wild cards for each individual number would work though you haven't reported back.

Apart from these suggestions, my last resort would be a guy I know in Trenton who could make your problem go away permanently, if you know what I mean.

True, I believe this is a trivial feature which any phone could have but I don't understand why Samsung doesn't have this. You can contact Samsung support like I did, and their reply, if I remember it correctly, was that we will forward this to the development team, if they get more such request they might add such functionality.
