Battery Charge Time

I decided to do a little experiment to check my battery charging speed for my S23 Ultra 512gb. I am using a genuine Samsung 25w wall power socket charger and genuine Samsung USB-C lead

In settings my phone estimates my battery will last 11hr 36min on a full charge

I ran my phone down to 25% remaining charge

I connected the charger and made a note at various points in the cycle as follows

25% to 100% took 1hr 19mins
90% to 100% took 23mins
80% to 90% took 13mins
25% to 80% took 43 minutes

If I get a chance when Im bored I'll do the same from flat to see how long from flat to 100%

I didn't use the phone whilst it was charging

Charginging times increased significantly sometime around May

I hope you find this info interesting

I believe when superfast charging is enabled.

You normally get around 60% with in half an hour of charging from flat ( This might vary depending on whether the phone is off or no.

After hitting 60% I believe it slow charges to 100% to save the battery.

So ideally a full charge would be just over an hour

Thank you for your comments. On previous phones e.g the S20 and S21 the charge would go from 0% to around 80% in around 15 minutes i.e put it on charge have a brew and your good to go. It was similar on the S22U I had although I didn't time it. This phone used to charge really quickly for a while but it slowed down significantly after an update in May. I can't remember which update it was as there was a main update which was shortly followed by a couple of system app updates via Samsung Galaxy Store, I seem to remember it being after the system app updates that the charge time significantly increased. I have no doubt as batteries get bigger they will take longer to charge so this phone will no doubt take longer than the older phones to charge as no updated chargers are released with newer models. I personally think a change has been made in the firmware or a system app that has affected the charging rate, maybe it will now require an updated 45w lead and or charger for super fast charging where previously there was a minimal difference between charging times 25w Vs 45w? I haven't got a 45w charger to test it out. Hopefully whatever has changed can be put right in an update but I personally don't see it as a big issue as the battery charges to full and depletes normally albeit charging slower than it should. I don't think there are any faults in the device or battery, I suspect it's a minor error in code but the consequence of slower charging is less stress on the battery which will extend battery life so all is not bad 😊
