App saved credentials missing from restored backup

Before sending my S23 Ultra for repair (my fault that this was necessary), I took care to ensure that I had a full backup to Samsung Cloud and then performed a factory reset.

I have today received the device back and performed a full restoration of everything from the Samsung Cloud, but notice that none of my email accounts are preserved in the Outlook app, none of my many authenication items are preserved in Microsoft Authenticator, and so on.  I expected that full backup effectively meant I had saved a full restore point of everything.

Is my thinking incorrect, or have I likely missed a step in either saving the backup (in which case it's now too late) or in restoring (which gives me hope)?

Many thanks.

Hi there 👋

With device back up, it'll back up the app itself but none of the data within it so when it downloads back to the phone, you'll have to login back into your apps again.

Even if you had backed up to Google, it would have ended in the same result.

Many thanks for clarifying, and so quickly.  Much apreciated.

The outcome is not what I hoped as I have a lot to now remember and some convulated and time-consuming processes to go through (two will even use snail mail in the first instance to authenticate me), but crystal clear, and from a GDPR and other equivalent law perspective, probably all that will ever happen.
