Exactly! I was kicking myself for buying a phone locked to 3 instead of buying directly from Samsung.

I tried and there was an update available but after downloading it says not compatible with the current device version.

That's weird. Worked for me with no problems. What's your phone, which network did you get it from? Are you currently on OneUI 5.1?

I'm using an unlocked s23 ultra with oneui5.1. No network restrictions or anything. Sn-s918b/ds

If it's got no network software branding, you should be getting the 6 update straight to your phone by checking Update Software in Settings. BTW no phones are locked now in the UK. It's not allowed. But if it was supplied by a network, it will probably have their branded version. May not even be noticeable to the user.

I got the phone from 3.

It'll be 3 branded then. I'd give it another go. It's worked for others with phones from 3.
