If you can get an s23 for cheaper than an a55, the s23 will probably be the best device. Due to age, the s23 will stop updates in 2027 where the a55 stops in 2028. Besides that, the s23 should be faster and just overall better.

The a36 is quite new but from knowing how samsung names their devices, I imagine the a55 is better than it

@a05sUser  The S23 would be the best bet if there is a reasonable offer.  The new A56 is the best of the A series but there is a premium for modern versions.  https://www.samsung.com/uk/smartphones/galaxy-a/galaxy-a56-5g/buy/?cid=UK_PPC_4586843643_ID~GLB0006F...

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

@a05sUser: I don't have any news to share about any possible price reductions for the Galaxy A36 5G, however I do recommend keeping an eye on samsung.com and our social media channels to keep up to date with any future offers.

At the moment, if you purchase the A36 5G from samsung.com then you can claim Premium Pack worth £138, which features a silicone case, 45W fast charger, and the Galaxy Fit3. This might add some value to the purchase if you were planning on picking up any of these items separately.

I addition to what has been said, maybe you have a an old device that you can trade in and it will help you get a discount for a new device.
If you can't afford brand new and you buy a second hand device, try to get it as new as possible and from a retailer that accepts returns, sometimes second hand devices have replaced parts that are not original or they have been damaged and stop working after a while. Inspect the device very well, check the IMEI number to correspond, check it to work in the area where you live, analyse the software and everything about that device, usually the retailers allow 14 days for change of mind and returns.
