This new update may 2024 has removed a feature where I was able to hide the home button. Now there is a black bar on the bottom of the screen with a line to show the button. In the settings it does not allow me to hide this anymore. This has now taken up screen space which I do not like also I read the update changes online and nowhere did it mention this feature will be removed. I understand I am unable to revert back to previous software so I urge you to re-add this feature ASAP. I want that screen space back for it to look tidy

Hey there!
So, the bar at the bottom of your screen is now used for Google's "circle to search" feature. You can activate it by pressing and holding on the bar.

If you don't like it, you can hide it using the Good Lock app. There are a lot of posts about this online.

All well and good there's an additional app that now does it. Begs the question why remove the functionality in the first place. It wasn't broken

Literally just got the app and it doesn't get rid of it. It's still there. The settings only allow the bar to be smaller

Lockstar is only for lockscreen. With this type of non sense what is the point switching to samsung. Won't even bother considering samsung for any tech requirements in future. 👋

If still around, it is NavStar to restore to how it was 😅

This is not Samsung that has done this.
Google has implemented this on the Android operating system. So you will find this on other Android devices. If not at the moment, but future updates for phones

The recent Android update (May 2024) has introduced a change that prevents users from hiding the home button, resulting in a persistent black bar with a line at the bottom of the screen. This adjustment has reduced usable screen space and disrupted the clean and streamlined interface many users appreciated. While I understand this is a system-wide implementation by Google affecting Android devices, the removal of this feature was not mentioned in the update notes, leaving users unprepared for the impact. I urge Google to reconsider this change and reintroduce the option to hide the home button in future updates, allowing users to reclaim their screen space and maintain a more user-friendly experience.
