Slow response from Google maps on S22

Hello,

A couple of months ago I posted that Google Maps and Waze wasn't working on my S22. However with a Samsung update or two later and things are a bit better.  I recently drove from London to Edinburgh via Newcastle and Google Maps was fine on the motorway, however a nightmare in towns.  The time lag for directions was so slow that I missed most of the junctions and got lost.  Not sure this how to fix this or to change to a new phone.  I beginning to wish I hadn't traded in my S7, or maybe it's time to get a proper sat nav and downgrade my phone. Does anyone have any recommendations or solutions?
