Secure Folder notification bug "must unlock your Secure Folder in order to get notifications" after August update

I just installed the August update for my unlocked phone on AT&T. Now when i reboot my phone i will get a notification saying that you must unlock your Secure Folder in order to get notifications from apps inside your Secure Folder.

You cannot clear the notification and it will not go away till you unlock your Secure Folder.

More importantly, you really will not get any notifications from any apps in your Secure Folder unless you do unlock the Secure Folder after reboot. Once you unlock the folder you can go in and out of your phone after that and notifications will come through. But the next time you reboot your phone though you have to unlock your Secure Folder in order to get any future notifications.

Anyone else experiencing that bug? I feel that's kind of irritating that you're going to get a notification to unlock your Secure Folder every time you restart your phone and also the fact that you have to unlock your Secure Folder after restart to receive any future notifications from apps in your secured folder.

I tested this by doing about a half a dozen reboots and if you don't unlock your Secure Folder after a reboot you do not get any notifications. But once you unlock your Secure Folder all the notifications start appearing.

I have used Secure Folder since Note 8 and never did we have to do this after a reboot and I can't find any settings to enable/re-enable notifications from Secure Folder. Anyone else?

Yeah, this is beyond stupid. I updated my phone for the first time in two years, because of stuff like this happening and of course, I have this issue too. Samsung really is doing everything it can to make me want to move back to an older version of the OS or go apple.

It's absolutely disgusting that you have not fixed this critical security & privacy flaw!

You now have 7 days to get this done or I am done with Samsung! I will happily move back to pixel!

You've made it so anybody snooping around on a device just has to restart it to discover a secret secure folder that's not so secret anymore! It announces itself to anyone who restarts the phone whether it be your spouse or your children or law enforcement or anyone that might be snooping on your device... Coworkers boss.. this is a critical security and privacy flaw it's absolutely disgusting. I hate Samsung because of shiz like this. Today is November 10th 2022 you have 7 days to fix this or you are deleted I will buy a new phone a new watch and a new TV and never come back to Samsung ever again frick you very much:

They aren't going to fix it. But give Sony a shot, you'll be surprised how good their phones are. I used them for everything until I got this stupid S21 5G with this secure folder nonsense. When my phone plan renews, I am going back to Sony for everything including TV. They really are the best.

Hey guys,

Found a work around / temporary solution as it might stop other android notifications too.

To stop unlock secure folder notification from showing up when you restart the phone without uninstalling the app, follow the steps below:

1. Go to Phone Settings(Normal one, not secure folder) -> Notifications -> Android System

1.1 If you can't find Android System app in notifications, click More -> Click 3 dots from top right -> and Click Show System Apps

1.2 It's the 'Android System' app without any orange rings at the bottom of the icon, if you have dual apps enabled.

2. After clicking On Android System -> Notification Categories -> Turn off Alerts

2.1 If Alerts is greyed out, try turning on/off other notification categories or opening alerts or other categories and see if it opens. Seems like a bug but sometimes it just takes a while to be ungreyed Last, try openning another app and come back.

3. If you have successfully disabled alerts, you can now restart and hopefully you shouldn't get the unlock secure folder notification.

Cheers

So far this had worked for me. What an absolute legend. This problem was driving me crazy. We are samsung customers because we want control of our phones and not to be forced into resolving system notifications that we don't want.

Same problem here. I dont like advertising that I have a secure folder to search for.

Most ironic part is I have NO APPS and NO CONTACTs in the folder that might require a notification

Then how do you access the folder if it no longer appears?

If you do not need the app, it can be uninstalled. You need to go to Settings / applications /secure folder

When you find General settings, tap to "More settings (Data usage, uninstall)", and at the and tap to "uninstall".

That can solve the problem with iritaiting pop up notification
