Your phone comes with a set amount of Ram which the phone uses and allocates to operate apps etc. Keeps apps open.
This feature was introduced so that if the inbuilt Ram is being used and not alot is left then some of your internal storage can be converted to Ram to help the phone maintain what it's doing and not stop open apps. Close apps in the background.
Now this feature has been slightly changed as to where a person can allocate different amounts of Ram they can choose to take from their storage if and when its needed.
