I received my Galaxy S22 Ultra 512GB, Exynos version, over a week before official release date. As I was using the phone I discovered several bugs with my unit, screen blackouts, occasionaly freezes, conversations loosing sound, phon not reachable over GSM network even if my signals was good. I decided to wait until official release date to see if new software would be released. On the 25th Samsung released new firmware for my phone, and I did a complet factory reset after new firmware was installed. I am now on firmware S908BXXU1AVBF and fresh phone setup.

My screen problems seems to be gone, but GSM network issues are still there. Several times I have been made aware of that my phone can not be reached by callers, even if phone is showing signals. Solution, reboot. Turning on and off flightmode did not help. Also I am experiencing sound dropouts during calls, call is not droped but sound oth ways are lost, duration 10 - 15 seconds. Also when making a call the phone uses much longer time to set up the call than other phones I have had. Calling my self from other phones give simular results, setting up phone calles to my Galaxy S22 Ultra take much longer then calling others.

Have been in contact with Samsung support, but there is no help to get there. Try this, try that, over and over again. I am starting to loose my patients now, and its impossible for me to have a phone I dont know if I can be reached at, and when I manage to set up a call, sound is lost several times during the call.

Same problem for me. Telenor (now Yettel )provider in Serbia.

It's very frustrating, especially if you are having important phone call and need to restart phone multiple times in order to use functionality that works flawlessly on my grandmothers NOKIA 3310.

I don't know if I understood you correctly, but you do not need to restart whole phone, for me is enough just to enter and exit airplane mode. I have the same frustrating problem entering to "emergency mode" or "connected, but no internet" ... up to now everytime helped airplane mode on and in few seconds off. Yes it is frustrating and not a solution,  but much faster than restart...

This was my question to Samsung Support in Members app.

I admit, due to my not good English, maybe my question wasn't clear enough, but still I thought they might understand what problem is. My reply on their answer was sending them link to this forum so they can read more about problem users experience worldwide.

Later is their response.

Me:

I've experienced issues during phone call with S22 Ultra. Phone call suddenly silenced and I couldn't hear another person or the couldn't hear me.

Phone was connected via Bluetooth.

Phone call freezed and I had to restart phone.

Problem persist after numerous actions, such as unpairing BT device, changing SIM card, clearing network connection, reseting phone, etc.

Dear Mr. Z,

thank you for contacting Samsung Electronics.

We are sorry for this inconvenience. In this case, we advise you the following steps:

Use a Safe Mode on your device for couple of hours to test if the issue is caused by the 3rd party application and remove or reinstall other manufacturer apps in standard mode one by one until the issue disappears (long press Power off button - long press Power off option in the menu - tap on Safe mode, to exit Safe mode please long press Power off button once again and choose Restart option).

> Turning on Safe Mode is as easy as it is safe. First, completely power off the phone.

Then, power on the phone and when the Samsung logo appears, press and hold down the Volume Down key. If done correctly, "Safe Mode" will display on the bottom left corner of the screen. If "Safe Mode" does not appear, repeat the steps above. Once you're in Safe Mode, you can remove the third-party app that is causing issues on your phone. To exit Safe Mode, simply restart your phone and it will reboot normally.

Note: You can also enter Safe Mode by pressing the Power key, touching and holding the Power off icon, and then touching the Safe Mode icon. <

Do not hesitate to contact us back in case of any additional questions.

Best regards,

Janja

@zemj yeah sometimes worked with just airplane mode or just call the person again, but sometimes even that didn't help. It droped the as soon as the person picked up.

Haha… we all get same instructions from Samsung. Maybe, this is just Samsung bot, with automatic response.

@Bogo1 The people at Samsung support centre are just like boots, probably they have predefined answers and procedures as they are not qualified technicians. I suspect they are not Samsung employees, and are working in a call centre that gets paid by Samsung for bulshitting their customers.

I have a Galaxy S22 Ultra 512GB, a version for the Czech market. I have vodafone sims in both slots. Sometimes the phone reports a loss of signal and I have to restart it completely. Operator keeps me texting about missed calls even I'm on the strong signal. When dialing, I sometimes wait up more then 30 seconds before the phone starts to respond and ringtone sound. The only reason I don´t  sent him to the service is the fear of losing the settings due to the factory reset. I hope this is a software issue that Samsung will resolve it in a very early update.

Let me give you a short update of my situation. After having the issues as everyone else, I switched back to an iPhone. As my return period of the s22 ultra was over, I have no other option but to wait for a software update and hope it will work. Nevertheless, after the latest official software update by Samsung (two weeks ago) I gave the phone one more chance and switched back the sim card. There are two interesting things I observe:

1. Most of the time I have no issues with the signal as the first time when I bought the phone. I would say 90% of the time, and 90% of the areas I move, the phone works perfectly fine (auto 5G).

2. This would have been 100% , if I have not visited the same area of the my city where I first encountered the problem. First time I visited this area (both a restaurant and an office of a client) the networks (two sims cards two different networks) went completely crazy, dropping constantly, no possibility for a phone call, and even if the call seemed to work on my side, I couldn't hear anything...all the symptoms described in this forum. And now again. Only in this area, everywhere else it seems to be fine. I am not an engineer but it feels like an issue connected to certian cell towers, or combination of different antennas or interference of some kind. Everywhere else the phone works just fine, for the time being 2 weeks. And I will continue using it , because it seems quite fine and usable now.

But again, I hope for a proper hopefully software fix by Samsung.

It is quite clear that the phone has problems when switching networks. When we are in an area with a lower signal, the phone switches the network to a lower level and then problems occur. Because of this, it is currently the only solution set to 3g / 2g (because this signal is the strongest and the phone will not switch networks).
