Not receiving gmail notifications when the phone os locked

Hello all , 

Really frustrating I love my new s22 ultra but ever since I have had it the notifications are terrible when the phone is locked.

I turn it on opening the screen and sometimes I will get a notification sometimes not.

I go to Gmail and I have loads of messages.

Been on the phone to both Gmail and Samsung tech support and neither can help.

Has anyone else had this issue I would really appreciate the help

Check in settings > apps > Gmail > battery. Make sure it's not on restricted, as the Gmail app will not run in the background.

Thanks it was on optimised , I have moved it to un restricted lets see if that makes a difference
