I have followed all directions for turning off google backups and it is still backing up.
Please help because my Google account is at 98% full now. 😞

After spending too many hours on this problem this week, I finally decided to delete the google photos app on my phone. Problem solved.
I do have to add Samsung needs to get its act together. I switched from apple to android years ago when the Note 9 first came out and loved it.
Upgraded to the S22 the first day it was offered and it has been a royal pain with problems. I HATE my time wasted and fiddling around with this phone constantly is getting tiresome.

I had turned it off, even though it was never turned on to begin with. For 3+ years, I've only ever used DropBox and then, suddenly Google started backing them up.
Google photos and the rest of the Google family of apps come as a package when you download Chrome as your browser, just like on a desktop.
Chrome was added the first day I got my phone and I never edited the apps that automatically came with it to exclude any. There was no need until last week when it randomly turned itself on, as a backup for my photos, and won't turn off.

Not true. It was not doing that until recently. My google data usage has always been approx. 31% because I basically use gmail and none of their other features. Overnight, I went to 98%.
