I've recently encountered a screen issue with my Samsung S22 Ultra following the One UI 7 update. My device, like many others, is three years old. I received the update just as my warranty expired, and the next day, the screen started showing problems.
At the service center, they initially claimed it was a hardware issue. However, it's evident that it's a software problem. When the display is set to Adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, a bright white line appears on the left side of the screen. When set to 60Hz, this line appears only when receiving notifications or unlocking the phone.
Despite the clear software link, the service center refused to replace the screen since my phone is three years and 15 days old. They offered to replace it for INR 25,000 but couldn't guarantee the issue wouldn't recur. I've seen others with the same problem even after paying for a screen replacement, suggesting a manufacturing software defect.
It seems like Samsung is using buggy updates to push new device sales. I've spent hours with customer service and the service center, only to be told that the company isn't responsible beyond the three-year warranty, which was never disclosed at purchase.
This experience has been frustrating, and as a long-time Samsung user with 25 devices, this might be my last. I won't recommend Samsung to anyone going forward.
