GPS signal lost in Google maps

Not sure if I'm the only one but when using Google maps for navigation, I get GPS signal lost and it doesn't track where I am. It almost as if the phone is limiting the location request to save battery.

When this occurs it happens to all mapping apps.

The only solution is to restart the phone! 

It's a regular occurrence like every day!

I've set all settings such as unrestricted and it makes no difference. Requiring a phone restart sounds like a bug to me.
