i like the idea of the edge lighting.
however, i really don't need it when i working with the phone - so when screen is on.
how to deactivate the option? i remember that this was possible in the past: edge lighting only when screen is off. but i can't find the option.

Settings - Notifications - Brief pop-up settings - Edge lighting style - Select Style and done
Settings - Notifications - Brief pop-up settings - Show even when screen is off
But there is no option for only when the screen is off. It might come back in the future.

How is this marked as solved? Samsung removed a lot of useful features from one UI 4 that were present in oneui 2-3 ! Why are they reverting everything? I loved the edge lighting when the screen off so much and now I simply hate it. I don't want it to show when I'm interacting with the phone, just when the screen is off... This is so frustrating.

Exactly! This is very stupid.

I found a workaround, although not a perfect one.
Set notification style to brief, then set style to none. This will cause just a small pop up on screen when screen is on with no lighting effects.
Then, download the Samsung GoodLock app & get Edge Lighting+ through it. You can then select some custom edge lighting options that are completely different from the standard ones and not edge lighting at all, more like symbols flying around the screen like popcorn, rain, snowflakes etc, but crucially, this gives you the option for "Only available when the screen is off".
So if you can put up with the annoying symbols rather than strips of lights etc, it's a possible fix for this issue, but not perfect.

I've created a tasker task that automatically toggles notification style between brief and detailed depending on the screen state on-off. Works better for me in my opinion and this way I can use the standard edge effects.

Can you share in detail how did you do that?
