Can't figure this out. My daughter and I both have S20 FE and there's a strange problem when we send each other text messages. If one of us sends a text to the other but happens to be online at the time then the message won't be received until the other one has turned on WiFi or data. Now I know texts should have nothing to do with Internet access so I'm totally confused. Is there an option on Samsung phones that operates like imessaging on iPhone? Please help. Thanks.

Sounds like you've got chat features enabled (which works over WiFi or data rather than SMS service).

If you go to Messages app -> 3 dots at top right -> Settings -> Chat Settings. Toggle off chat features option. Further down settings also change default message type to 'Text or multimedia'
Handset will then only use networks SMS service for messages.

Thank you so much for your help. I've done what you said so hopefully that will sort it.

I have the exact same question you worded this perfectly.I wouldn't have known how probably would have overexplained it to the point of confusion 😅😅 Did you find the answer though? Thanks in advance

I don't have the messages app apparently, When I go to the one I have in the 3 dots.It only gives me view details and share as an option Which means my phone doesn't allow me to do what you're recommending and i'm having the exact same problem as The original commenter, but the difference is, I have.SMS on , that's what's been causing My phone to say that I Have to use data in order to send the message. But that's only messages that are longer Then one sentence, I have 24 Wi-Fi.I don't need my data ninety nine percent of the time  . So i'm confused as to what happened I don't even know why my messages changed.SMS in the first placei.Might have accidentally chose  Because when something popped up I had no choice I didn't think it would recommend something that was bad for my phone Why should I have to use data when I have Wi-Fi for a stupid text message?I already pay for monthly?

Can you do a screenshot of what your messages app is that your using?
If you do a long press / hold on the app icon then go to the (i) in top right corner. In the app info that comes up then scroll down to bottom and it will say about 'show app info in store'. Tap on that and If you can screenshot it
