Hi everyone, I am having an issue with my Note 20 Ultra, my phone's screen has been turning black and restarting itself‌‌. This problem does not occur at all when the phone's temperature is below 30 degrees Celsius, but as soon as the phone's temperature goes above 30 degrees, the phone freezes and the phone's screen turns off, and when I hold down the three buttons, it stucks at the Samsung logo. This problem occurred right after updating to Android 13 one ui 5.1. I didn't have this issue before!
I don't know if it is a hardware issue or a software one!
Does anybody have the same issue?

Hi @aidin438 and welcome 👋

First thing you can try is go on members app press on support section and use diagnostics tools ans see what it says.

Wipe cache partition:
Turn off phone Plug to PC, tv etc press and hold power button and volume up button until samsung logo appears Then quickly release power button and keep holding volume up button until reboot menu appears then navigate with volume down button till wipe cache partition press power button to confirm restart your phone.

Enter safe mode to see if there's 3rd party apps who might be causing the issues:

Thanks @lminvti  for your kind reply
I did everything you mentioned, but unfortunately, the problem persists. When I put an ice pack under the phone or put it in cold weather, there is no problem, but as soon as the temperature goes above a certain point, this problem occurs.😥

You can try one more thing open phones dialer type *#9900# scroll down till you see batterystats reset press on that. If nothing works I guess it might be the hardware issue would suggest to get in touch with customer support services and send for repairs so they can look into this further and see where's the issue, since phone is out of manufacturers warranty you will have to pay for service but if price isn't acceptable then you can always say no and get phone back, last thing would be considering upgrading your phone if your budget allows it, unfortunately it's older device and it's on its last legs and only be getting quarterly security updates for not much longer.

I'm samsung user for as long as i can remember, and loved my note 20 ultra, but everything has an expiry date, I'm upgrading quite regularly still have old note 20 ultra s21 ultra etc who seen better days but seems to be functional perfectly till this day. Nowadays new galaxy devices offers up to 7 years updates whitch is amazing. Now at the end of the day choise is yours if you want to switch to different brand, and whatever you choose i wish you all the best 😊👍

Hi, Just wondering when you say the phone shuts off at 30C, is that ambient temperature or the temperature reported by internal sensors? I use an app on my S24U called Device Info HW that gives temperatures reported by all the internal sensors, might be worth checking out to see if the problem can be narrowed down. Does the phone feel physically hot when it happens? One thing I wondered - as a workaround - is whether changing the power mode settings might help. (Under settings->device care->battery). But does sound like you might need the phone looked at if you want to try and get it fixed

@JerryS Thanks for your reply.
I checked the issue again and saw that in Safe Mode the phone doesn't heat up at all and it works for long hours without getting stuck! I don't know if it's really a hardware or software problem!

That sounds encouraging. I'd be tempted to try gradually uninstalling recently installed apps to see if it then resolves things and you can isolate the problem to a particular app

Welcome to the group!

Also have the "hardware" issue immediately after the latest update...

Even changed screen! Nothing will help.

Programmed obsolescence is not something I can accept. I would buy apple if I wanted that...

Bye samsung
