Phone started updating when I accidentally connected to WiFi (idiotic that I can't disable automatic updates at all!!!)

So it upgraded to this idiotic, ugly and cluttered new update and I had no say in this at all!!! Samsung what the heck???!!!

everything about this new update is horrible, where do I start! Rounded corners on all the icons, Really??!! who in the world decided on this stupidity. It's almost as if they are trying to make it look like an iphone/pixel phones.

menu swipe from the top of the screen is ridiculous and cluttered now. This is so stupid!!

I'm just literally just want to voice my huge disappointment and anger!

Samsung!!!! Stop forcing your customers to update their phones if they dont want to. This AI ***** is annoying and I dont need it!

Hey there and welcome to the Samsung UK and EU Community Forum

As has been repeatedly stated in this forum had you bothered to search.....

You have one of the most customisable devices ever. You just need to learn to customise it the way you want.

Much can be customised from the device itself.

Alternatively you can download GoodLock and Plug Ins and customise that way.

🤣I might not have looked at your phone for a while. In settings Under Software Update there are only three options; Check for updates, Auto download Wi-Fi only and Cellular.

There is no options to not select to install.

While I wasn't connected to WiFi, I was getting notification to update frequently through out the day which is annoying on its own!
As soon as I connected to my WiFi, Samsung started to install the update automatically!

So please tell me in your all knowing wisdom the way to not have Samsung install updates automatically. LOL

Well I didn't mention anything about customizing the device nor did are argue at all whether samsung is customizable or not, therefore your comment is null and void.

I don't need to learn to customize it because I know how to customize it but then again back to me saying your comment is null and void because I didn't write at all about the customization aspect of the phone.

I wrote about the fact that this new update is Ugly, Stupid, Cluttered, Drains the Battery.

But to address your comment about customizing the phone, there is no way to customize it to make it look and feel the way it was and the best way it worked for me.

With each new update, all that Samsung is doing is adding more AI nonsense!

Actually you are wrong!

You can't download whenever I want to!

When connected to WiFi the phone automatically downloads and installs the update.

The only way to not download the update, is not to connect to the WiFi.

As soon as my phone was connected to a WiFi, it started downloading the update with no way to stop it. It didn't ask me to schedule later or to way as some other people on here were trying imply.

Actually @keith30 is right

You're device must be set to auto update to enable the update to, err automatically update.

Settings choices were yours....

This is what we see

So, as you can see, your device can only Auto Download.

If that's happened (in my pic it will download automatically when I'm connected to WiFi) or WILL NOT install until you press the button on screen allowing it to. If you don't click "Install Now" it will stay in your Samsung Settings, Downloads until you do.

So at some point you've clicked on Install Now and it has done so. 1746814509563.jpg
