Thanks for reading this in English, I can read and understand Dutch.
My Note9 is up to date and since a few days the Edge Lighting cannot be turned off.
I tried a work around by changing Transparency to its highest setting, but that had no effect.
While I wait for an update to correct this, am I alone with this issue?

The only thing left I could think of is resetting the phone. But if this occurs after installing an update, it could be that the issue is in the update itself.
Only way to find out is resetting. Could you let us know how this works out?

Bruce, rather than wait until the next Android update in January, I decided to bite the bullet, so to speak, and Reset my Note9.
The Reset went easier than I expected (though I still had to go through and manage my Contacts and merge many of them). I restored my Note9 from my desktop using the Smart Switch software.
The Edge Lighting issue seems to be gone (and I even have it enabled). There must have been a conflict with one of the apps, updates, or something else that caused this issue.
For now, at least, the issue has been resolved. A hard Reset solved my problem. Now if I can only find back the Theme I had been using.

Hi Dave,
That's odd! What happens when you try to disable Edge Lightning? Is the slider to disable the function greyed out, or are you able to disable it but does it have no effect? I'm able to disable it on my Note9, but unfortunately I'm not that popular and haven't received a message yet, so I can't test whether it actually disabled the function or just looks like it did.

Kevin, the Edge Lighting setting is not grayed out, it just doesn't respond to being Off.
This just happened a few days ago and I remember there were a few new Samsung apps that were installed and I wonder if one of those apps is the cause of this.
I have sent at least several Error Reports to Samsung (after clicking on those three vertically arranged dots in the upper right corner of the Display \ Edge Screen page).
Thanks for responding. Dave Horne - Vught

You could also try booting the phone in safe mode. Are you able to turn it off again?

Bruce, thanks for the tip of booting into Safe mode. (That information is not listed in the built in owner's manual.)
Unfortunately, the issue is still with me.

I thought of resetting the phone as well.
Since this issue still appears in Safe Mode, I think it's safe to assume this issue is not caused by any of the apps that have been turned off, so to speak, correct? This would seem to be a Samsung problem.
Is there a 'System File Check' that exists (or used to exist in Windows) for Samsung?
If I decide to Reset the Note9, can I still save my contents to my five year old Huawei using the Samsung transfer app, and then transfer the contents back? Will the older Andriod version on my five year old Huawei be an issue?

Bruce, I'll pass on some more information though I have not yet Reset the Note9.
(I downloaded and installed Smart Switch on my desktop computer and backed up my Note9. As far as I can see, the items in my Secure Folder were not backed up though.)
The issue with Edge Lighting is curious. I can activate it, give it a color such as blue. When I click on Settings \ Display ... just the act of clicking on Display prompts a red flash of Edge Lighting. For that matter, any Setting topic I click on, such as Connections, Sounds and vibration, Notifications ... any Setting topic will prompt a red Edge lighting response when I click on it even though I applied the color blue to it.
I've sent several Error Reports to Samsung regarding this (by clicking on those three vertical dots on the Edge Screen setting page).
To be honest, I'm really not comfortable with performing a hard Reset of my phone. I'll live with this and see if the next major software update corrects this. We know that in Safe Mode this issue still persists. I just wish others had my specific flavor of this Edge Lighting issue.
I've bookmarked this page and will return if and when I have anything new to report.
Thanks, Dave Horne
