Updated to One UI 8, usb tethering to PC not working

After updating my Galaxy Tab A9 to One UI 8, USB tethering to my PC stopped working. My Galaxy S23 still connects and tethers to the PC without any issues, so the problem appears to be isolated to the Tab A9 after the update. I’ve already tried enabling the relevant Developer Options, switching USB cables, and testing device-to-device connection between the Tab A9 and S23 (which works), but the Tab A9 still won’t tether to the PC. Are there any known fixes or workaround for this?

It should just be plug usb in, open notifications, press the usb notification (not the charge one), set it to file transfer mode.

All that changed was the default mode being set to charge only instead of file transfer mode. So you have to swap with the notification

Yeah, true. Problem is that notification for file transfer/usb tethering is also not showing. the notification only shows charging even if you press on it.

I confirmed that the cable isn’t the issue any cable behaves the same. I also discovered that USB tethering only works if I connect the tablet to the PC before restarting the tablet. Once it boots up, the connection gets approved and works. However, if I connect the tablet while it’s already powered on, the connection fails. This is still very inconvenient since I have to restart the tablet every time I need a wired connection, especially for tasks where I can’t rely on wireless. I think samsung needs to fix this update.

I remember that exact issue happening when I was beta testing one ui 8. Report it and hopefully it gets sorted soon

you could also try to reset the settings of the USB port of your phone. To do this, go to Applications and  Activate "Show system applications"  by tapping the 3 lines to the right of Your Apps, select ok.

Find the USB settings app and in storage, delete the cache and data. Restart the device and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried it now, but unfortunately it still doesn’t work.
