I just selected update my samsung, and it told me that it was not able to and the I need to attach to a computer and use smartwatch. I believe someone has it on their computer and it is preventing me from updating it. How can I confirm this and find the controlling computer?

Hi! Welcome to the samsung members community!
You can't really control a phone from a desktop PC.
Smart Switch is a legitimate tool: It is Samsung's official software for device management.
The Message: "Attach to a computer and use Smart Switch" indicates a failed or unavailable over-the-air (OTA) update.
* Possible Causes:
* Corrupted system files.
* Insufficient storage space.
* Network connectivity problems during download.
* Outdated software version.
* Modified system software.
Check for Unauthorized Apps:
* Go to "Settings" > "Apps."
* Identify and uninstall any unfamiliar applications.
Samsung Account Security:
* Visit the official Samsung website and log in to your account.
* Review registered devices and account activity.
* Change your password if you suspect unauthorized access.
Check for Remote Access Applications:
* Look for applications like TeamViewer or AnyDesk. If you did not install them, then this is a serious security risk.
Bluetooth and Wifi:
* Review saved wifi networks, and paired bluetooth devices.
* Turn off bluetooth and wifi when not in use.
Using Samsung Smart Switch for Updates:
* Download Smart Switch:
* Obtain the software from the official Samsung website.
* Connect Your Phone:
* Use a USB cable to connect your Samsung phone to your computer.
* Launch Smart Switch:
* Open the Smart Switch application on your computer.
* Check for Updates:
* Smart Switch will detect your device and prompt you to install available updates.
* Follow the on screen instructions.
