For anyone who has an A40 that has noticed that the speaker sound quality leaves a bit to be desired, I noticed that the sound quality can be improved considerably using the built in equaliser under Sounds and Vibration > Sound Quality and effects. It seems to have a sharp resonance at around the 500hz mark, I found that setting the equaliser as shown in the attached pic worked best for me, although you can play to your hearts content to set it best for your ears. It will result in slightly lower overall output though, but I'd rather that than listen to the awful sound as it was before.
