Old photos appearing in gallery

Hi

Gakaxy A12 - I've recently started seeing thousands of old photos (some taken with previous phone - and from years ago) reappearing in my gallery on a daily basis. They're tagged with the current date and whilst i delete these daily, and also from my deleted items, they continue to reappear (although original photos remain on original date) can anyone help or shed light on why thus is happening? Thanks.

Are your photos backed up, it maybe restoring from they old back up? Deleting from your phone doesn't delete from your backup

Thanks for replying. Images seem to be those sent via whatsapp and stored in an internal storage folder

Did you ever get a fix for this? It keeps happening to me and is driving me nuts!

@Blythy0487: If you are also experiencing an issue with WhatsApp images appearing in your Gallery after they have been deleted, then please open WhatsApp > Tap the 3 dots in the top right > Settings > Storage and data > Media auto download. From here, tap on each category, and make sure that Photos is unchecked in each one. Let me know if this helps.

Hi. I basically deleted the images in the WhatsApp folder from the date before I got my latest phone (they're backed up externally so nothing lost). If you check photo details you'll see which folder. Seems to be working. I've also taking the steps in WhatsApp suggested by @AndrewL below
