Had a software update this morning, seems fine. Was replying to a text and saw 'update' so I did, turns out it was 'Upgrade' and now I'm stuck with Google Messages. I don't want that, I want Samsung messages but I've tried all sorts and I can't get back to my default app. Any suggestions apart from a factory reset?

It's still available to download in the galaxy store. Check in settings apps to see if it's been disabled. If so you need to click on enable. 1733133233009.jpg

You should get these 2 screens when you open Samsung messages to set it as your default messages app. I'm afraid it looks like Samsung are switching to Google messages. 1733134878835.jpg1733134878864.jpg

I wish! I have Samsung messages installed but now only accessible by going into the store to open it, seems to have vanished from my phone menu. Google seems to have taken over altogether

Yeah. Got that as well. I kept option for Samsung messages.

Under settings, search for default apps and you should be able to choose Samsung messages there for the message app.

You need to enable it in Settings, Apps then it should appear in your app draw.

@Misty64: Further to the above, please try heading to Settings > Apps > Choose default apps > SMS app > Samsung Messages (blue icon with a white speech bubble inset).
