@JayDeeSpi hello, check the settings of the messaging app. Ex: Access Settings / Applications and look for the Messages app. In the options-Battery, put Not restricted. In Notifications / Notification categories, check the settings of each category. Click on the letters of the category, to gain access to more settings, where you can choose, tone, vibration, etc. Greetings.

I don't know if this thread is open still, I'm glad it's going directly to Samsung. I recently got an A15 Galaxy, it's a lot better than the A02 for sure BUT this continued "forget" of the Messages alert sounds that this A15 continues to do is infuriating. You guys need to fix this for good.  I tried all of the above suggested stuff, have cleared caches via app Storage and at the higher level/s and nothing works but a complete settings reset, which turns on all the touch vibrations and gunk that I keep trying to get rid of (and keep only the alert sounds). If I mess with any singular Notifications setting after a full reset (not data clear, just settings reset), it turns off the Messages sounds and sounds on the mic/voice input tap. There (maybe?) seems to be some stupidity collision in the thing between the Samsung voice typing and Google voice typing, but I can't be sure. What gives? Why are these phones made so unstable this way? Any permanent dependable solution suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Hi, original poster here. I have mine set on Nonrestricted (under Messages \ Battery option), I had seen/tried this earlier, but for the record I may have isolated it. It seems to have something to do with the Bluetooth pairing action, i.e. when I have the phone audio pointed externally to some Bluetooth device, like to to send it through my stereo to play music. Either turning Bluetooth on/off, or pairing, or something, it seems to drop the Messages audio then. Noticed this by accident, and I have to test it for consistency but that appears the good probability. So testing would be:
- do full reset (minus data wipeout)
- turn on all audio/alert/battery settings for Messages app, verify they're working (I always just try the voice-to-text mic, that always bleeps)
- turn Bluetooth on/off and/or pairing, and see what it does

Could still be something else of course, and I wouldn't doubt it!

Confirming my last post & testing sequence: it absolutely is the Bluetooth status. When that is on and paired with some external device to route the sound through, the Messages notification sound doesn't sound on the phone. This sounds a bit stupid and "duh" of course but the point is, I was pairing the Bluetooth sound device to play music out of Spotify (or choose your music player). Why not make the Messages alert sounds independent of the Bluetooth routing? I stop playing the music and switch the stereo amp channel to radio or something else and bang, I lose all phone alert sounds. Give that a try why don't you (Samsung), and I'll remember this stuff on my end. Thanks.
