Tyring to use gps tracking apps, but they only work while the application is open and the screen is on. In location permissions, there is no option available for "Always allow". This option is only allowed for a few system apps.
Tried changing things everywhere, but not working. This supposed "security" feature makes it difficult to use these apps for navigation as it does not record location. Apps not working are Trailforks and fatmap. Can only choose from "allow while using app", "ask every time", and "Don't allow", none of which let you use the main purpose of gps tracking apps. Seems like it is a Samsung security issue, didn't have this problem earlier in the year.

It might be beneficial to contact the developer of the app directly to ask them too @JoanthanP if the phone's settings / permissions won't allow what your wanting to achieve.
Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.
The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

Same issue here - it's not an app issue, as i think someone has suggested; I have friends using the same app on an Android phone and have the capability to select location "all the time" for the app whereas this option is just not available to me at all as an option. It isn't an option for any app that isn't Samsung or Google.
Has anyone found a workaround? Is there a security fix I need to do or does this just affect a particular model perhaps? In the process of getting a new phone and scared of getting another Samsung because of this issue as its a pretty big one.

I have the same problem & it's not a security issue as you called it. IT'S A CONTROL ISSUE. Samsung has taken away are freedom of right on which apps we can allow always. It's sad no one realized that. Well now you know. Samsung has no rights controling what we choose
