This morning's ui8 update has left me without a phone as now the Sim is no longer detected.

after trying all the online suggestions (including multiple mobile setting resets) I tried a factory reset. However, this also downloaded ui8 , so that didn't work either.

I've just noticed the GPS reception is also non functioning.

I have raised an error report and received an acknowledgement.

I seen a few other's with the same problem.

Tourbillon De La Vie  & Piper123,

Thank you both for your speedy reply.

I should have described my situation better - sorry!

No, I'm not using 2 Sims and I have removed the original Sim and replaced it in the same tray with the new Sim.

Thanks

Yes, as well as I could, the nano sim doesn't fit well in place of the micro-sd card so I'm not sure if it was perfectly aligned or needed an additional adapter.

Hi I have the Samsung s25 and use 2 simcards but sim 1 is sim 2 vice versa it's no problem as when you get a message it shows the sim within messages so it doesn't really matter

After doing the update to One UI version 8.0 and Android 16 my UK SIM is no longer seen by the phone.

The SIM is working perfectly in a spare phone.

PLEASE FIX THIS SAMSUNG otherwise the phone is useless.

Contact Samsung support via Members app and let them deal with it. Assuming you've attempted usual troubleshooting

Have you reinserted the sim, tried another sim slot, Reset the Network connections ?otherwise have you tried a soft Reset, hold the power and volume Down Buttons simultaneouisly for around 10 seconds until the Device Reboots. Another idea is to turn the Airplane Mode on and off and reboot.  just to check, if you go to Settings-Connections-Mobile Networks-Access point Names ensure your mobile plan is registered there . if not tap the 3 dots in the top right - Reset to default to see if this sorts it.  Tap the Back button -Network operators - Select automatically, and make sure that this is toggled on.

if no solution though you would need to contact support as suggested.

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

Snap. There seems to be a number of us who's phones have been killed by this update.

I've tried everything suggested, including multiple factory resets but since each one loads the tainted UI8 they don't work

Also, have you noticed gps is knobbed?  Mine can only find 1 satellite instead of 20+.

I have raised an error report, (hold the members app icon until menu appears) you sh5 do so too. Maybe if Samsung get enough complaints they'll get off their corporate behind and do something about it.

I had a long call with O2 (my provider) and at the end of it all, the SIM itself is likely to be my cause as it's a very old SIM (3G issue) and may not be recognised by the Samsung update. So I have a new SIM winging its way to me now. I'll post an update if it fixes this fubar.

But seriously, a software update should not cause such a drop-out. I expected better from Samsung. And I am in the middle of important stuff here so losing my phone contact is a real 'mare. Fingers crossed the new SIM is the answer.

Interesting. I'm also on 02 but sim is not that old, but is does predate the a53 phone.

Edit; I've ordered a new sim , just in case Samsung take forever to fix this. O2 seems to be aware of some issue without actually admitting anything.
