Galaxy A22 5G fingerprint sensor not working

after update to OneUI 5.1 my fingerprint sensor stopped working at random times. it fixed after couple of restarts. but after the recent security update, it stopped working and no restart does the work.

I searched and tried the solutions mentioned by others:

" i accessed the "checks/actions" but none of these applied to when you cannot even get into the scanner. I also accessed "Samsung Members app > Support > Phone diagnostics > Fingerprint scanner." but there was no fingerprint scanner option as it is not functioning... "

but got the same results as @PeteSa said.

when I go to the Settings > Security and privacy > Biometrics > Fingerprints, it says "Fingerprint sensor not working. if this keeps happening, restart your phone."

doesn't that mean it's a known bug?
why didn't they fix it?
no new updates and no ways to fix. what should I do?

Is it how samsung treats their customers?

I faced very similar issue. After installing the latest software update from Samsung yesterday on my Samsung Galaxy A22 5G, my fingerprint stopped working. Got same error in settings "Fingerprint sensor not working. if this keeps happening, restart your phone."

After running the phone in the "Safe Mode", the sensor was working. Then after exiting the "Safe Mode" also the sensor continued to work. So the issue could be resolved in my case in this approach.

Steps:-

1. Long press power button to get the "Power Off" option

2. Long press the "Power Off" icon  to get  the "Safe Mode" option.

3. Click on the "Safe Mode" option to enter into the "Safe mode"

4. The phone will restart and enter the "Safe Mode". Now check whether the fingerprint sensor is working.

5. Restart the phone to enter the normal mode.

If the issue is similar, these steps may solve the problem.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

It worked for me a few times after swtiching to Safe Mode and back.

However, eventually I had to change my finger print sensor hardware to get it fixed.

Have you guys had any luck with your units? I have the cheapest A05s and I've been using it as a 2FA device, fingerprint stopped working so I am now forced to type the password every time. I bought it for the fingerprint sensor scan every time 2FA is needed. It's still in warranty but was wondering if someone has done anything to sort before bringing it in for warranty.
