Hello
I've just bought a Galaxy A15 and have a query about Wi Fi calling.
Wi-fi for the internet works OK. OS is version 14
I now use my mobile as my main telephone at home and the signal I get from the local mast is not particularly good.
On my previous A20e, wi-fi calling was a 'preferred' option, if memory serves me correctly. When I enabled this, all calls were made over wi-fi if a connection was available.
The A15 just has an option to 'enable' wi-fi calling. It seems to me that wi-fi is only available when the telephone signal is weak, and is turned off if it is strong.
Is this normal?
If not, any suggestions how to fix it?
TIA
Dave

@Members_GA5yeRe: If you head to Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi Calling, and toggle the feature on, then you should see a 'Calling preference' option. Tap on this, and select 'Wi-Fi preferred'. Let me know if this helps.

Morning Andrew.
Thanks for the reply.
Settings > Connections doesn't have a 'Wi-Fi calling' option. Is this an option enabled by the service provider and stored on the SIM?
There is an option within the phone settings which toggles 'Wi-Fi calling' on or off. That is set to 'On'
I should have said that the handset is the 4G version, if that makes a difference.
What I don't understand is that wi-fi calling is displayed when I auto connect to other routers in different places. At home, it sometimes displays when the mast signal strength is weak, but I don't think it has ever displayed when the handset is less than a metre from my router.
Cheers
Dave

@Members_GA5yeRe I also have this issue with a huge chunk of phones from A15s to A12s.
I thought it was our provider but Vodafone have confirmed its not them and its the phone that doesn't have the capabilities for this preference.
@AndrewL Can you provide anything to counter what Vodafone said?
I have checked all settings and I only get the option to enable wifi calling but not to enable a certain preference. Where as my personal phones do have this option.

@Lit2024: It is possible that the 'preference' option is only available on Android 14 and above, although I am sadly unable to verify this. If you have selected the Phone app > 3 dots > Settings > Wi-Fi Calling > On, and the 'Calling preference' option is not visible, then this feature is not supported on your device/current Android version.
