Hi.
I dropped my A12 phone a couple of days ago and fingerprint recognition has stopped working.
Side button still works however. Anybody on here encountered this & how do I fix it without buying a new phone.
Thanks in anticipation.

If your Samsung phone's fingerprint sensor isn't working, you can try these steps:

Restart your device: A simple restart can fix minor software glitches.

Check your fingers: Make sure your fingers are clean and dry, and not too wet. You can try moisturizing your hands with lotion.

Check the sensor: Make sure the sensor area is clean and free of smudges.
Check your screen protector: Make sure your screen protector is attached properly and tightly.

Remove and re-register your fingerprint: You can do this by going to Settings, then Biometrics and Security, then Fingerprints. From there, you can remove your existing fingerprint and register a new one.

Check for security policies: Your device may have security policies that restrict or disable the fingerprint sensor.

You can also try these steps if your fingerprint isn't working with Samsung Pay or Samsung Pae sure your fingers and the sensor area are clean Check that your screen protector is attached properly

Hi.
I've already tried most of these, & I can't change anything in settings fingerprints, I just get this each time I touch it.

Hey there! Welcome to the forums! 😊 Here are the steps you can try on your Samsung device:

1. Power off your device.
2. Hold the Power button and Volume Up button simultaneously.
3. When you see the Samsung Galaxy logo, let go of the buttons to enter Recovery Mode.
4. Use the Volume buttons to highlight "Wipe cache partition" and confirm with the Power button.
5. Press Volume Down to select "Yes," then Power to confirm. Your cache will be wiped.
6. Once done, select "Reboot system now" by pressing the Power button to restart your device. 📱

Ever since the last security update my fingerprint sensor has quit working... are you sure it's from dropping your phone?  I have yet to find a fix other than waiting for the next security update from the glitch.

About a week ago my scanner stopped recognizing my finger.  I did all the fixes (added another finger too).  Now some of the apps that require a finger scan, aren't asking for a scan and want me to type a login and password.   Also saying my scanner is off.  But I checked and it is not off.
