A70 screen will not dim/USB connection.

Hey,

I've noticed a problem with my A70 regarding trying to dim the screen when locking manually or expecting it to lock after screen timeout.

Basically, my phone won't sleep, at least not whilst charging. I spent a good while playing around with settings on my phone, such as timeout and lock screen settings. I also powered off the device but no luck.

After trying to figure out the problem further I discovered that the notification tray is being constantly updated every few seconds swapping between "Android system USB connector connected" and "Android system USB connector disconnected". So presumably this is what is keeping the phone awake as it thinks it is being constantly connected and disconnected from source USB source. I cleaned out the USB port but it was pretty clean to begin with. I'm not getting any notifications regarding any moisture detection.

The A70 charges just fine (though sometimes there is a slight delay to it recognising being plugged in) and it seems that the USB tethering interface is working well as I can use the remote debugging feature in Google Chrome (for web development purposes) just fine. As far as I can tell, there are no actual issues with the USB port - it functions as I would expect.

The A70 was last updated on the 14th August to "Security Patch level: 1 July 2019" and looking over the log of updates I see that "The charger/USB port's moisture detection algorithm has been improved" - so someone somewhere has been looking at this feature and I doubt it coincidence that my device has just developed a fault, given that I've not had it anywhere near moisture or excessive dirt.. and the port still actually works!

I've also tried Safe Mode but the issue persists. Also, if I power the device off, then plug it into the wall, power it on, the notification issue stops... until I unplug it/switch off the wall socket - then it comes back again.

Anyone else having similar problems?

I tried everything on this thread

Discharge it , charge it to 100 percent and let it overcharge for half an hour, do the dial thing, set to CHARGING ONLY from default usb settings and let it off for a night

I woke up this morning and the problem is gone . Hope it is for good .

Best of luck.

whatever you tried whatever you do and it was successful the problem will return is a matter of time.

i been told from Samsung that mine was water damage in the port -motherboard-scream .And i wonder how comes by the time my phone never had a water accident or the port never report any wetness in the port.

if it has so many problems why was still perfectly working when was a plugin and when it wasn't the screen was not going down  and  had s the same message like every one here does  the phone shouldn't work at all in that case,

even if you change the port in a few months the problem will come back it just matter of time,

there are 36 pages here with complaints and there is no one which was said that Samsung change his phone or repair the problem .

they know that nothing happens and the problem will return simply the cant even fix it

why noone of them has made a simple comment here about what we should do about that?

think and you will receive your answer

all model series A will face that problem it just matter of time

Nothing mentioned in the 36 pages of comments have worked for me. I think it has to do with the latest update. Before that I had no issues. Since then it all has gone to s**t. Samsung will not provide a response because they have no idea how to solve it, otherwise they would have said something.  Everyone has been told to do something something different.  If it is the same issue, why tell everyone to do different things? It is not good enough.  I have been using Samsung products for years,  but I am starting to think that my time with Samsung is coming to an end.  None here have had their phones replaced.  I think if they are still under warranty,  they should be no questions asked "here is a new phone". But Samsung know that involves a few thousands of dollars loss.

Samsung,  not good enough.  We are getting ripped off!!!!!!

I also own a Samsung A70, I bought this in May this this year in Norway.

On the 8th Dec my phone started doing this same thing, screen won't turn off and I constantly get the USB connected/disconnected notification, typically this was the day I was travelling to the UK for 4 months so no chance to return to the shop in Norway. I'm hoping the Samsung service centres will honour any warranty here as I randomly happen to have the receipt with me!

I've tried several of the suggested fixes on this thread and none have worked for me. On some occasions my phone screen would turn off for a few minutes but mostly it still just stays on constantly.

I'm afraid I don't have any fix suggestions but mostly just wanted to add my name to the list to show another user is having problems in the hope something will be done to fix the issue globally.
