A70 screen will not dim/USB connection.

Hey,

 

I've noticed a problem with my A70 regarding trying to dim the screen when locking manually or expecting it to lock after screen timeout.

 

Basically, my phone won't sleep, at least not whilst charging. I spent a good while playing around with settings on my phone, such as timeout and lock screen settings. I also powered off the device but no luck.

 

After trying to figure out the problem further I discovered that the notification tray is being constantly updated every few seconds swapping between "Android system USB connector connected" and "Android system USB connector disconnected". So presumably this is what is keeping the phone awake as it thinks it is being constantly connected and disconnected from source USB source. I cleaned out the USB port but it was pretty clean to begin with. I'm not getting any notifications regarding any moisture detection.

 

The A70 charges just fine (though sometimes there is a slight delay to it recognising being plugged in) and it seems that the USB tethering interface is working well as I can use the remote debugging feature in Google Chrome (for web development purposes) just fine. As far as I can tell, there are no actual issues with the USB port - it functions as I would expect.

 

The A70 was last updated on the 14th August to "Security Patch level: 1 July 2019" and looking over the log of updates I see that "The charger/USB port's moisture detection algorithm has been improved" - so someone somewhere has been looking at this feature and I doubt it coincidence that my device has just developed a fault, given that I've not had it anywhere near moisture or excessive dirt.. and the port still actually works!

 

I've also tried Safe Mode but the issue persists. Also, if I power the device off, then plug it into the wall, power it on, the notification issue stops... until I unplug it/switch off the wall socket - then it comes back again.

 

Anyone else having similar problems?

There appears to be a usb sensitivity issue to moisture/debris with installed  firmware.   Prior to flashing, use waterless rubbing alcohol, toothbrush, pick tool to clean port.

 

Flash afterwards if problem persists.   Newer/older  firwareis less sensitive to usb debris.

Hi guys. I have been having same problems with my a30.This started the first days of new year.Fast charging didnt show up, and now the phone sometimes charges very slowly or very fast.The battery drops faster than before. At night it might go from 70% to 20%, another thing is that when it goes below 15% it starts dropping like crazy, 3% for a minute of on screen time. There was an update like 2 days ago but it fidnt fix anything. IN SOME CASES FAST CHARGING SHOWS UP, BUT BY MEASURING WITH AMPERE IT JUST SHOWS 1000 MAH WHICH ISNT FAST CHARGING.Definitely this is a big problem, help would be appreciated

I've noticed that this happens only my my battery is less than 72%. I've tried everything said above but still nothing...anyone got more ideas?

So I've noticed this has now gone away .... Originally thought it was a software issue ... Now believing it's absolutely hardware and the charger port is just HIGHLY susceptible to moisture. Left it off for a while in a dry spot and it's now gone away ... Although the USB C port will only accept any cable from one way ... Very odd

its the charging port u can order it on amazon for 12 bucks or if your phone is under warranty just send to samsung it's not a software issue it ,ay go away for a bit but will come back they used cheap parts very cheap and this is what happens again it's a hardware issue not software

Drain battery to 0%, overcharge for a hour with phone off, use the original charger

It's not gonna work ...Its a problem with the charging port this is a hardware issue again go to amazon search a70 charge cable its 11 bucks or if your phone is under warranty send in to samsung nothing else will work in the mean time dont use the phone to avoid screen burn in

indeed. my phone was sent to the Samsung centre on monday. I have an email saying they have received it today. I will be waiting a few days fornthe outcome. hopefully I will be able to report back a positive outcome to you guys
