That does not sound right at all @Col49 !
If all your settings look good then try clearing the cache of the camera. Found in Settings, Apps, Camera, Storage. Clear cache.
If absolutely necessary clear Data too.
There are also diagnostic tools in your Samsung Members App and also by keying *#0*# into your phone's dial pad in the phone app.
