Is it normal when pressing the shutter, for it to beep, go red, but photo not take. On second press of shutter the photo takes. Sometimes in photo mode, when you press the  shutter, it starts recording video rather than taking a photo. Also when zooming in on a distant scene, the shot is out of focus? Picture blurred?

That does not sound right at all @Col49  !

If all your settings look good then try clearing the cache of the camera. Found in Settings, Apps, Camera,  Storage. Clear cache.

If absolutely necessary clear Data too.

There are also diagnostic tools in your Samsung Members App and also by keying *#0*# into your phone's dial pad in the phone app.
