A41 Android 11 issues after update

Hi,

I just updated my Samsung A41 from Android 10 (A415FXXU1BUC3) to Android 11 (A415FXXS1CUG1 - Security update July 2021).

All looks to be good, but I have the following issue...

When I plug in the Samsung charger (or any charger) to charge the phone, on Android 10, I used to get a brief splash screen of the % charge and a circle going around it, then the screen went off. This was the standard behaviour when Always On Display was configured to be off and "Show charging information" turned off too.

Now with Android 11, on plugging in the charger, I don't get this splash screen anymore, the screen just stays blank. Anyone else notice this on Android 11? The phone still charges fine.

Thanks,

Greg

I'm using a different phone @Greg30 however I still see the % with a circle running round it for a brief few seconds when I put my phone on charge.

I use Samsung desktop wireless charging.

My phone is on Android 11 with Samsung One Ui 3.1 and on the July update.

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁴ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

Thanks @BandOfBrothers for the info. I think that this one might be device specific to the Samsung A41 and the Android 11 on Security update July 2021.

Does anyone have a Samsung A41 with Android 11 on Security update July 2021 and can test this?

There are some suspect logs in the logcat when plugging the charger in:

No idea what that means, but it does not look good!

I have acquired.. go to settings. Go on to display..scroll down to screen saver. You will see options on what your screen looks like when changing. I have made which says none..I get the white circle then the percentage in left on battery then after the screen goes off I get the percentage as its charging and how many minutes are left till full charging is complete..hope this helps..shady🙂

Hi,

I've figured out what's going on now. There is a setting in Accessibility:

Visibility enhancements > Colours and clarity > Remove animations

I had it set to "on" to make the phone as snappy as possible without any bloated screen transition animations. However, this setting also removes the brief display of the battery charge percentage inside a circle animation in the centre of the screen when a charger is plugged in.

If I set it to "off", I get the battery charge percentage inside a circle animation again.

In Android 10 there was a setting to Reduce animations (which has less effect than Remove animations) which did not reduce/remove the battery charge percentage inside a circle animation. This setting is no longer available in Android 11.

Hi Grog,

I can confirm on my A40 on Android 11 that it behaves in the same way. Remove Animations, stops the brief battery percent appearing when you plug the phone in. It still vibrates though.

I guess its working as expected, even if its an ugly crash in the logs!
