@jade58: That's strange, as Flight mode should turn off all network connections. For clarity, are you experiencing this issue with Wi-Fi, Mobile data, or both? To troubleshoot the issue, please press the Volume Down and Power buttons together for around 10 seconds until the phone restarts, as this will perform a Soft Reset, and address any temporary software issues that might be a contributing factor. Don't worry, this won't affect your personal data or settings. You may also wish to head to Settings > General management > Reset > Reset network settings > Reset settings, however please be aware that you will be required to re-connect to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices that you had previously registered to the phone following this step.

Thank you so much Andrew. I did the network re-set as you suggested as the soft re-set had no effect. It is now back to normal. I have struggled for days with this. Many thank you's and I wish you all the very best for the Christmas period.
