Hello,
can anyone confirm that "Modes and Routines" don't always work?
For example, the flight mode is activated at 18:00 and deactivated at 06:00. I have had the case several times with a device that the flight mode was not deactivated at 20:00 or 5:40.
This should not happen under any circumstances and I see no reason why it should not happen.
Greetings

Hi @DrWage,
have you checked if specific days are not included? Also, if you set up a routine and turn off "Not disturb" in between, it doesn't deactivate itself afterwards when activated per hand. This could be the case here, too.
Kind Regards

Thx for the reply.
No, specific dates are not included, all routines are controlled exclusively by time. All days of the week are activated. There are four routines that control flight mode in the evening/night and briefly turn on Wi-Fi in the morning.
I've had this happen 2 or 3 times so far that the mode didn't work at a certain time. I haven't actively observed/monitored it. I've only noticed that the mode wasn't active at the time. It could also be that I am wrong
Hence the question whether anyone has ever had problems here. At least with simple functions. Certain functions do not seem to work in the smartphone's "sleep mode" or in certain conditions.

Update: The routine was supposed to deactivate airplane mode (offline mode) at 6:00 a.m. yesterday, but it was still active at 7:16 a.m. I touched the smartphone the last time 19:00 the day before. No idea why it didn't work.
Apparently sometimes it doesn't work and sometimes it does. I would guess it has something to do with deep sleep.
"Modes and Routines" is integrated into the GUI of the operating system settings, but is also a separate app. At the same time, the app does not have to be open in the background for the routines to obviously work. The service must, of course, run in the background.
1.) Turning flight mode on and/or off using routines (certain times) does not seem to work reliably, even though everything is set correctly. I don't know if it's the routine itself or the setting.
2.) What I definitely noticed last year is that other things (screenshots) do not work reliably. I saw the problem in that certain actions do not work when the smartphone is in sleep mode.

I have started a new test attempt, maybe something has changed in the last month/Updates
Two A14 devices - The devices have the following routines:
*Work phone*
Routine 1: Activate airplane mode every day at 18:00.
Routine 2: Deactivate airplane mode every weekday (Mo-Fr) at 5:45
Routine 3: Deactivate airplane mode every weekedend (Sa-So) at 8:00
->The device is used daily. It would be immediately noticeable if the flight mode was not deactivated in the morning. This is also the reason why modes and routines have to work, you want to rely on them.
*Private phone*
Routine 1: Activate airplane at 22:00 p.m.
Routine 2: Deactivate airplane at 21:45
->The device is used once in the evening at the specified time to check an app and note the battery level, otherwise it just lies on the table. It may be used for banking in between
Today is February 13, 2025, it is 20:11. The routines are eset up correctly and airplane mode is activated.

Hi @AlwinS
I would like to come back to a comment, I may have misinterpreted the answer months ago. Just to clarify
"Also, if you set up a routine and turn off "Not disturb" in between, it doesn't deactivate itself afterwards when activated per hand. This could be the case here, too."
Whether it's "Not disturb" or "Flight mode" shouldn't matter?
-I create a routine that activates flight mode at 10:00 and a routine that deactivates flight mode at 20:00
-The routine activates flight mode at 10:00
-I manually deactivate flight mode at 11:00
-Now the routine should deactivate flight mode at 20:00 anything else would be nonsense?
Or would you say in a comment that manually deactivating the flight mode in between, the 20:00 routine doesn't work anymore? Which would actually makes the whole mode pointless

Today is Friday, 14.02.2025 17:12
Confirmation that there is still something wrong with the routines. It has nothing to do with the airplane mod, even simple routines seems not to be executed sometimes. No pattern recognized. Problem as previously observed.
In my opinion, the entire "Modes and Routines" mode is practically unusable in this status. I don't know what I might be doing wrong.
-Workphone Routine 2 failed to deactivate airplane mode, today 5:51 still activated
-Private phone Routine 2 failed to deactivate airplane mode yesterday, 21:52 still activated
-Private phone Routine 1 should have automatically activated the flight mode, today at 13:09 the flight mode was activated. But I can't remember it 100%, maybe I activated the mode manually because deactivating it didn't work. Mistake on my part.
Today at 6:50 I set up additional routines on the work phone that emit a system tone every hour.
7:00 do Signal tone > worked
8:00 do Signal tone > worked
9:00 do Signal tone > worked
10:00 do Signal tone > worked
11:00 do Signal tone > worked
12:00 do Signal tone > worked
13:00 do Signal tone > worked
14:00 do Signal tone > Cant remember. Dont know, maybe left the room
15:00 do Signal tone > Cant remember. Dont know, maybe left the room
16:00 do Signal tone > can't remember any signal tone
17:00 do Signal tone > Had the impression that there was no signal tone the last hours. Was on the computer at 16:55, waiting for the signal tone 17:00. No tone... The smartphone was still being used at 16:55 p.m. to create further routines after 5 p.m. It can't be any DeepSleep problem either
Edit from next day: Addition: The airplane routines in the evening worked, there was no error here

If you have already deactivated flight mode manually, the routine cannot deactivate it again. However, if you have reactivated flight mode manually before 20:00, the routine should then deactivate it again automatically.

Today is Sunday 16.02.2025. Report from yesterday
*private phone*
Phone not touched all day, checked at 21:55 and shortly after 22:00
-Routine 21:45 not executed, airplane mode not deactivated
-Routine executed at 22:00, airplane mode was deactivated
*work phone*
8:00 > signal tone
9:00 > signal tone
10:00 > i believe there was a signal tone
11:00 > signal tone
12:00 > signal tone
13:00 > cant say, i was not in the room
14:00 > cant say, i was not in the room
15:00 > cant say, i was not in the room
16:00 > cant say, entered the room shortly before or after 16:00 p.m. It is possible that I entered the room a few seconds too late and did not hear the sound.
17:00 > no signal tone
18:00 > cant say, i was not in the room
19:00 > no signal tone
It's a bit strange that it works in the morning but then fails again in evening. It was like that the day before. Could be a coincidence. I have deactivated the flight mode routines on the work phone and now only concentrate on the signal tones
Hello Alwin
Quote: "If you have already deactivated flight mode manually, the routine cannot deactivate it again."
"That is absolutely logical, but is there any known error? Theoretically, it could lead to an error if the routine tries to deactivate something that is already deactivated. Although that kind of "stuck-error" does not seem to be the case either"
"However, if you have reactivated flight mode manually before 20:00, the routine should then deactivate it again automatically."
That just doesn't work. The routines fail regularly, the whole mode seems broken. It seems, regardless of whether the airplane was activated manually or via routine, there are cases where the routine simply doesn't executed. It has nothing to do with flight mode. Even routines with simple system sounds fail.
I don't know if you have a way to escalate this, otherwise I'll report the bug again via Samsung Members and if that doesn't work (what I assume), i have to annoy South Korea again in the end. The two core features why I bought the Samsung Galaxy A14 are broken (the battery bleed bug will probably be fixed in the next few months, but the routines seems are also still broken)

Hey @DrWage,
there seems this error isn't known. So I would recommend you to report the bug via Samsung Members.
Kind Regards
