T7 Shield SSD died suddenly

Hi there,

Last night my T7 Shield was plugged into my M1 MacBook Pro. I loaded up Logic Pro and attempted to load some samples from the T7 when a notification popped up saying the drive had been ejected. I had not moved the laptop or the drive. Both were sitting on a solid wooden table. The SSD just died suddenly.

When I plug it in now, there is no blue light, the drive is not recognized and I can hear a constant high-pitched whine.

Has anybody else had this issue? These drives are supposed to be reliable.

Any help wold be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hearing a noise coming from the SSD is not a good sign. Can your phone or alternative laptop, read anything on the drive if you plug it into them?
Hopefully it's still under warranty and you might be able to make a claim.

Hi,

I had the EXACT same issue today. I was also working in Logic Pro, when this happened to me. Did you figure out how to solve it? If not, any idea on how to recover the files?

Any help would be highly appreciated!

Hey NimNim, I sent it back to Samsung for a replacement. Since I back everything up ion the cloud it wasn't a massive issue for me.

However, before returning your drive see if you can find a specialist who could retrieve the data and copy on to a healthy drive. There will be professional IT outlets that could do.
