Hi
I recently purchased a Mele quieter 4C mini PC with Windows 11 Pro preinstalled. The device has a 256GB eMMC drive and a generic 256GB ssd. I upgraded the ssd to a 1Tb Samsung 990 Evo with a view to cloning the Windows 11 Pro to it. I downloaded Samsung Magician 8.1.0 to the eMMC but it wouldn't complete the install saying it couldn't install some of the components. Magician 8.1.0 runs fine on my desktop. I'm stuck now unless I buy another brand of cloning software! Anyone know why the Magician installation fails and if there's a fix for it? Is it that there's a problem with an eMMC drive or with the 990 Evo in a Pcie 3 x 4 system? Presumably Magician would at least install even if no Samsung ssd is present?
Thanks for any help!

Also I can't stop reply notifications going into my junk folder. I don't have these problems with any other web site or forum!

@LuLu52 I think Norton is likely being over sensitive to the risks, whilst it is some time since I have used this software can make changes to the Anti Tracking. https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v138744797

I installed Win 11 pro on the Samsung 990 Evo - via usb and no problems. Tried installing Samsung Magician again but same problem - seems to install but when trying to run the first time it says 'Finalizing the components..' then fails and throws the same error message 'Magician has encountered an error and cannot continue'. I tried installing and running another app and it too threw an error message when attempting to launch viz: 0xc000007b
I did some investigating and found this could be due to missing visual c++ redistributables. I downloaded the latest on offer for 3t and for 64 bit and rebooted. The app I'd had the error with now ran ok. But Samsung Magician still gives the same error. Is there a particular redistributable that Magician requires or some other Windows component? I'm continuing with my investigation but it's very time consuming and frustrating!

Maybe, but it did say it was a _known_ malicious site...

Hi
Yes, SSD is drive c: Compatibility troubleshooter doesn't help. I tried the version you linked to - it's actually v6.3.0.330 from 2021, which is a bit old. However, it does get a bit further and shows the familiar Magician screen but then throws an error: 'Magician has encountered an error and cannot continue'. Before it does that, it recognises the 990 Evo and gives some drive information. As the 990 Evo is very new I wouldn't expect this old version of Magician to necessarily support it properly. Of course it also says 'a new version of Magician is available'. I might try doing an in situ update but I suspect I'll just be going around in circles. My feeling is that the problems likely relate to Windows 11 pro. This is my first encounter with Win 11 so I'm not properly familiar with it....

I did the in situ update which took me to v7.0 and is better. But other than performance benchmarking, the other functions won't run 'the selected drive does not support this feature'. I did another in situ update to v7.3 and this time it wouldn't run at all 😐☹️😖 I'm wondering what Magician is expecting that isn't there? I know other users have done cloning etc on the Mele 4C with other brands of software so it seems to be specific to Samsung. A previous post I came across elsewhere suggested that Magician had a problem with environment variables and couldn't find its 'path'. Or maybe there is an issue with Windows 22H2 vs 23H2? The N100 doesn't seem to support 23H2... I see Microsoft is ending support for Win 11 22H2 this year. All my desktops still have Windows 10!

ps ignore that about Windows version - it had updated to 23H2 10.0.22631
