What type of laptop are you using and just files (pictures, downloads, etc.) or what type of things?

Depending on the laptop you shouldn't need an app. Just plug your phone in by USB and access the phone through the explorer. In Windows you can use file explorer or you can use the Photos app and set it up to import all your photos and videos into your folders on the laptop.

If I recall there is also the software that allows you to link certain Samsung phones to Windows and then you can actually access your phone wirelessly from your laptop as long as your on the same network. Just Google "Link to Windows" + your model of Samsung phone. Hope this helps.
