I have multiple machines running these ssd's most of them xenon based that decided to just lock up and require a cold boot to bring them back.

They do not appear in the bios at all if they are not cold booted after a "Crash". most of the machines ar HPE Dl20's . just wondering if anyone has seen any similar problems in the past and what is the fix .

Jon my boy.... run. Run away as far as you can from samsung nand. I have the same model Samsung 990 (FW: 4B2QJXD7) with the same symptoms, across multiple builds. Samsung magician tells me that this is the latest firmware.

I arrive at the machine, black screen. Restart does not help - not detected in BIOS. Cold boot brings it back somehow. This tells me there is some screwed up state held on the disk that can only be cleared by a proper power cycle.

Whats more, there are no events or logs in Event Viewer that indicated what caused the issue. My guess is the disk disappears completely and instantly, meaning that the OS has nowhere to dump the error logs to.

I have a gut feeling that the SMART readings on there NVMe's are being manipulated in some way. Something here is dodgy, something is wrong.

6 occurrences and counting.
